Coping Skill – Stay Hydrated

Be formless, shapeless, like water. You can put water in a cup it becomes the cup. You can put water in a bottle it becomes the bottle. You can put water in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Water can flow, water can crash. Be water my friend.”

-Bruce Lee

Summary:

70% of our bodies are made up of water. You can last 3 weeks without food, 3 days without water and 3 minutes without oxygen.

After oxygen, the next most important thing that our bodies require is water.

Detail:

When you wake up, you are massively dehydrated.  Your body is craving water.  That’s why the next part of my morning ritual is to head to the kitchen and begin hydrating.A dry mouth as your body prepares for fight or flight mode is common with high anxiety.

Sip, don’t guzzle.

Skill:

If possible drink alkaline water, filtered from a water ionizer.  If you don’t have a water ionizer (or can’t afford one), then make sure you’re at least drinking filtered water.  You can also alkalize the water by adding lemon to it (lemon is acidic, but metabolizes in the body as an alkaline form).  Adding green nutrient powder to water which further alkalizes it and gives body essential nutrients.

Aim to drink at least 1-2 glasses of water first thing to ensure you are fully hydrated.

It is essential that we balance our diet between eating food we enjoy and eating food that actually aids the digestive system (smoothies). This reduces the demands on your liver which also has the job of eliminating toxins.

Carry a small bottle of water wherever you go and be mindful to sip as required.
